Looking after it
The stems sit in soaked floral foam, so no vase is needed. Pour a little water into the box every day or two to keep the foam damp — enough to moisten it, never enough to pool. Keep the box out of direct sun and away from ripening fruit, which quietly shortens the life of cut flowers. Peonies open fast in island heat — any tight buds will unfurl over a day or two. Keep them somewhere cool if you want to slow that down.
